Need a Thursday night adventure? Join Aspen Historical Society’s Michael Monroney on a pub-crawl in downtown Aspen. Mike has the ability to paint an incredibly accurate picture of the now famous Aspen before it was a sought after resort destination. Take a look at our adventure with Mike; this is something you won’t want to miss!
Your crawl begins at 3:30 at the Red onion.
The Red Onion was established at the height of the Silver boom in 1892.
While at the Onion we got to try their ‘Last Dollar’ drink that is dangerously good. Want to make it at home? Just combine these ingredients:
Blood Orange Liqueur
Serve on the Rocks!
The second stop on the crawl is Justice Snow’s, constructed in 1889.
While at Justice Snow’s we were treated with three very different cocktails.
Lastly we follow Mike to J-Bar at the Hotel Jerome, which was established in 1889. When you walk into J-Bar, a local’s favorite, it’s like stepping back into time.
While at J-Bar we tried their special and famous ‘Aspen Crud’ cocktail. This Milkshake with a kick was invented around the prohibition times, when folks were trying to sneak a drink. Want an adult dessert to impress your friends? Try the Aspen Crud at home:
5 Scoops of French Vanilla Ice Cream
3 Shots of Bourbon
Blend and serve!
